The iPad is probably one of best portable picture frames on the market. Sure, it’s a computer, but its 9 by 7-inch display simply begs for wonderful wallpaper.
The screen resolution is 1024 by 786 pixels and any photo that size will work. But if you want access to stunning photos, design, and patterns for your iPad wallpaper use, there several free iPad wallpaper apps that provide lots of choices.
1. Wallpaper (Get from iTunes Store)
The app I like the best is called appropriately and simply, Wallpapers. It features hundreds of full size images, including designs, nature photos, cartoons and Anime, and royalty stock photo type shots. The app contains a filter of all its categories, which include color, comedy, graffiti, universe, music, etc. There’s so much to choose from in this app, it may be the only one you need.
To use any photo as wallpaper, you simply click the save button, which saves your selection to the photo library of your iPad. In your photo library, select the image you want to save, tap the arrow button on the right side of the library. This will present you the option to use your selected image as your iPad wallpaper. This is how it’s done for all the apps presented this review.
You can also navigate to the iPad Settings app and select on Brightness & Wallpaper. Tap the arrow button which will take you to your photo library, from which you can select an image for iPad wallpaper use.
2. Free Walls (Get from iTunes Store)
Free Walls is another elegant collection of about 100 images, ranging from nature to cars, and various graphic designs. Images are not categorized but it‘s limited in number, thus you can easily browse and select the ones you want to save and use.
3. 200+ Romantic Papers (Get from iTunes Store)
4. Backgrounds HD (Get from iTunes Store)
Backgrounds HD is a lot similar to Wallpapers. It features hundreds of images with categories including, Flowers, Beaches, Cars, Patterns, Music, Fantasy, Technology. You can also search images by artists. Many of the images seem to come from Flickr and DeviantArt group, in which you’re invited to add your own image wallpaper to.
Unless you’re in the habit of changing your wallpaper four or five times a day, I would say that downloading these free iPad wallpaper apps should be more than enough to last you until you buy a second or third generation iPad.
